Abstract
Ferritic stainless steels are finding more and more applications in engineering.Unfortunately, national standard test methods have been established for detecting susceptibility of ferritic stainless steels to intergranular corrosion. Thus the mechanism of interg-ranular corrosion of ferritic stainless steels was introduced, and the ASTM-A763 standard for testing intergranular corrosion of ferritic stainless steels was discussed. Moreover, the method for testing intergranular corrosion of low chromium ferritic stainless steels, not covered in ASTM-A763 standard, was discussed as a modification.
