Abstract
Rice anther culture is widely used in Japonica rice breeding. A series of varieties of ZHONGHUA and LONGJING developed through anther culture methods were released. The progress of anther culture used in Indica rice was not so success and much fewer varieties than Japonica's were released. Hybrid F1 from Indica crossed with Japoniac as well as Photoperiod and Temperature Sensitive Genic Male-Serile(PTGMS) rice lines were the hot materials used in anther culture in recent years. The results were different according to different hybrid F1 and PTGMS used.
