THE GENETIC TYPES OF GOLD DEPOSITS AND THEIR PROSPECTING IN WEST TIANSHAN MOUNTAINS

Abstract

As one of the important precious metal metal logenetic units in the Paleozoic erogenic belts in China, the West Tianshan Mountains, including Sailimu micro-massif, Boluohuoluo Early Paleozoic island arcs ,Yili Late Pateazoic rift valley, Nalati Paleozoic island arc belt and Haerke-Saaerming Paleozoic trench - arcs as a result of a complicated t.otonic evolution process, is favourable for gold ores forming. The discovery of large gold deposits like Axi and Wangling etc., 8 gold polymetallic ore deposits and more than 20 ore spots there, indicates that important breakthrough in gold ore prospecting have been made in west Tianshan Mountains. Based on the researches of predecessors and ours, the authors divided the main genetic types of gold deposits as epithermal deposit, ductile shear zone deposit, porphyry deposit and Muruntau type deposit. The epithermal type, which formed in Late Paleozoic Dahalajunshan formation volcanic rocks, are further divided into adular-sericite type and silicitied rock type. The ore-forming actions of gold deposits in the area were mainly happened in Hercynian, showing a characteristics of regional ore-forming time. The Au deposits are mainly formed in the mid-late Paleozoic continental volcanic belt on the edge of Yili rift. The ductile shear zones is related to the North Tianshan oceanic plate subduction in Shenglidaban area and the Haerke-Saaerming strench-arcs related to the South Tianshan oceanic plate subduclion to Yili sub-plate. Based on the resources analyzing, 4 Au ore-forming prospective areas are recognized, they are the Shenglidaban area in northwest Tianshan which the ductile shear zone developed well and is considered as main hunting area of ductile shear zone gold deposit, the Tulasu-Yelimodun area in middle west Tianshan which widely distributed with Lower Carboniferous Dahalajunshan formation continental volcanic-subvolcanic rocks is considered as the maim hunting area for epithermal gold deposits, the Wulansai'er-Dashankou and the Tulasudaban area in south west Tianshan which well developed with C-bearing fine fragmental rocks of upper Silurian and lower Devonian is considered as the prospective area of Muruntau type gold deposits.
