Analysis on Discovery of New Smear Positive Pulmonary Tuberculosis Cases during 2005-2008 in Pingxiang

Objective To understand the distribution of the new smear positive pulmonary tuberculosis patients in Pingxiang City and to provide the basis for the development of relevant prevention and control measures for different populations.Methods The information from report,network and new smear positive TB patient registered 2005-2008 was applied and the data was analyzed.Results The total cases of new smear positive pulmonary tuberculosis discovered in the four years was 3 256 and the ratio of male to female is 2.28:1.The patients were mainly in the group of 25～55 year-old,especially among farmers taking up to 70.61%.The referral from comprehensive hospitals still is the main source of patients,accounting for 58.29%.Conclusion In recent years,tuberculosis is still very serious in Pingxiang City and the registration rate of the new smear positive tuberculosis patients is higher than national average.Tuberculosis cases still were among the young adults of farmers.We should strengthen TB prevention and control measure in rural areas.
