Abstract
Objective:To study the antioxidant activities of Ligustrum lucidum Ait.in vitro. Methods:The antioxidant properties of different extracts of Ligustrum lucidum Ait.were evaluated by different antioxidant tests, including DPPH free radical scavenging activity, hydroxyl radical scavenging activity, preventing effect on lipid peroxidation, reducing power and assay of total antioxidant activity in vitro chemical simulated systems with colorimetry method. Results:The ethanol extract of Ligustrum lucidum Ait.exhibited notable scavenging effect to DPPH free radical and hydroxyl radical, had some functions of inhibiting lipid peroxidation and reducing power, and the total antioxidant activity was relatively strong. Conclusion:Ligustrum lucidum A.showed antioxidant activity and could be applied as a potential natural antioxidant.
