Abstract
To make clear the genetic background of the dominant eggplant germplasm species in China,54 eggplant cultivars from Guangxi and other parts of China were assessed with Morphological markers and ISSR markers. The results indicated that: 37 phenotypics were observed and 33 phenotypics(89.18 %) were polymorphic;8 polymorphic primers were selected from 50 ISSR primers.68 DNA fragments were amplified and each primer resulted in 8.5 DNA fragments on average.58 fragments were polymorphic(percentage of polymorphic bands was 85.29 %);The genetic similarity index of all the germplasms varied from 0.04 to 1.00,the total average value were 0.52 and 0.60 respectively, suggesting that the genetic difference between individual cultivars was significant, but the genetic diversity of total cultivars was limited.Cluster analysis using SPSS software showed that the cultivars tested in this study could be divided into six groups, and the results of Morphological markers were related with geographical origin of cultivars, but groups based on ISSR markers had no evident relation with geographical regions.
