New Development of Convective Weather Nowcasting Systems

Recent years,convective weather nowcasting,as a new operational forecasting field,had gained attention of China Meteorological Administration.The major algorithms of nowcasting are still based on extrapolation of Radar data.State-of-the-art nowcasting operational systems and advances in the nowcasting algorithms are presented in this paper on the basis of our experiences in running the Beijing 2008 Forecast Demonstration Project of the World Weather Research Project.The verified results of general performances in the Olympic demonstration period of those nowcasting systems were also provided.
