Abstract
Functions of road network include traffic and transportation, inbuilt space of public facilities, urban space framework, afforesting, disaster prevention etc. Basic thought of road network planning is diversion of traffic. Basic contents of road network planning are expounded from three aspects of road category scale, road network density and road network shape. Thought examples of road network planning in many cities, existent problems of road network planning are expounded, mainly including road network reform, wasp waist, offset, bottleneck, ring road and ramp of overhead road etc., which have guidance significance to road network planning practice of China cities.
