Abstract

The use value and non-use value constitute the total value of the wetland resources, and non-use value usually account for a large portion. To scientifically and rationally evaluate the non-use value helped to promote the sustainable utilization and development of the wetland resources. This paper quantitatively evaluated the non-use value of Caohai wetland ecosystem by using contingent valuation method investigating the willingness to pay of local resident around Caohai National Nature Reserve. We sent out the questionnaires to 240 respondents, and received 208 usable responses. It was found that the mean willingness to pay is 85.08 Yuan per year, the non-value of Caohai wetland was about 9103.56 ×105Yuan. The impact analysis of the social and economic features showed that education level, occupation and monthly income were the main fac-tors affecting WTP, and the sexual distinction and age were not correlated with WTP.
