Abstract
With capillary rheometer, dynamic rheometer, differential scanning calorimeter(DSC)and metalloscope, the effect of ethylene propylene diene monomer(EPDM) on melt property of EPDM/PP blends, relative crystallinity of polypropylene(PP)and cell morphology were studied. The results showed that melt strength and relative crystallinity of PP/EPDM blend employed with low content EPDM(≤10 wt%) were lower than the pure PP,meanwhile, the viscosity of the blend melt was rarely influenced by EPDM.When content of EPDM was 9.5(wt)%,an cellular foam PP with cell density of 2.3×105cells/cm3 and cell size of about 90μm was prepared, owing to the promotion of cell nucleation on the interface of PP/EPDM and decreasing of crystallinity of PP/EPDM blend.
