There has been much debate about the relation between Liu Xie's Wenxin Diaolong and Buddhism. The views that either deny or overemphasize the connection do not treat the classic work fairly. The author intends to provide an accurate analysis of the relation between Liu Xie's Wenxin Diaolong and Buddhism in the following three aspects. They are the relation between the “divine truth in Wenxin Diaolong and Buddhism, the merger of Dark Learning and Buddhism in Six Dynasties and Liu Xie's ontological view, and finally, the research method in Liu Xie's Wenxin Diaolong and the golden mean in Buddhist philosophy.
