Benevolent Government · Born Good · Noble Spirit --A Re-cognition of Mencius' Spiritual World

By inheriting Confucianism initiated by Confucius and combining the particular cultural spirit in the Warring-states Period, Mencius formed a spiritual world of his own, which is represented by the social ideas of benevolent government, the moral ideology of born good and individual literary gift of noble spirit. Mencius maintained that there is an intrinsic unification and inseparable linkage between subjectivity and objectivity, and between society and morality. Born good is not only the humanistic basis of benevolent government, but also the psychological source of noble spirit.
