An Investigation into and an Analysis of Post-90 Students' View of Sports in Ordinary Colleges and Universities

Abstract

Objective With the investigation into post-90 college students' view of sports,their hobbies of physical exercise,physical exercise items,forms of exercise and scientific evaluation of P.E.effect were analyzed so as to provide references for the reform of physical education in colleges and universities.Method 293 college students admitted in 2009 were randomly chosen to be investigated.Results The proportions of those fond of physical exercise among male and female students were 77.4% and 44.7% respectively,and it was higher in male students than it in female students(χ2=30.84,P0.01);male and female students tended regard body-building and health-care as the objective of exercise in terms of the interest and hobby of physical exercise.The first 3 items of physical exercise was table tennis,badminton and walking.Forms of exercise developed towards leisure sports,and to exercise with peers of same physical condition or exercise alone were the main choices.The majority of college students lacked perseverance in exercise;of the main factors influencing the participation of physical exercise,the first one was the shortage of time,and then the poor physical condition and lastly poor awareness of health.Conclusion Students' view of sports and recognition,awareness and practice of physical exercise among post-90 students are far from satisfaction.It is necessary to provide scientific evaluation and guidance in physical exercise,and colleges and universities should provide certain guarantee mechanism in the aspect of management so as to strengthen the influence of sports culture in colleges and universities.
