Abstract

In the present paper two new species of the freshwater shrimps are described. Thespecimens were collected from Fujian Province in 1975. The type specimens are depo-sited in the Shanghai Fisheries College. Macrobrachium fukienense sp. nov Rostrum extends beyond the extemity of the antennular peduncle, the dorsal borderis armed with 7 or 8 teeth, the ventral border with 2. The second legs are unequal in both sexes, the.larger leg reaching beyond the scaleby the extemity of the carpus or merus, the little leg reaching beyond the scale by theextremity of the palm. All joints are covered with numerous horny spinules. Thecarpus is shorter than the chela, and the palm is 2.2 times as long as the finger. Thecutting edge of fixed finger bears two large teeth, the anterior one of which is situated at middle of the finger. The dactylus is provided nd two large teeth too, which aresituated at the points one-third before or behind the cutting edge. Remarks: This new species closely resembles Macrobrachium insulare (Parisi1919), but diffets from the latter by the following features: (1) the rostrum is longer;(2) the palm of the 2nd leg about as long as the carpus; (3) the site of the teeth of themovable and fixed fingers being different. Macrobrachium maculatum sp. nov. Rostrum reaches to the extremity of the antennal scale, the dorsal border is armedWith 10--13 teeth, and the ventral border with 3--5. The second legs are equal in size. All joints are covered with numerous spines andscattered hairs on their surface. The distal end of the merus reaches about to the anteriorborder of the antennal scale. Both the movable and fixed fingers bear two smallerteeth on the proximal part of the cutting edge. The palm is 1.5 times as long as thedactylus. The carpus is longer than the merus. Remarks: The present species is closely allied to Macrobrachium japonicum(deHaan), but differs from the latter in the following features: (1) the ventral border ofrostrum bearing 3--5 teeth; (2) the scaphocerite narrower; (3) the second legs symma-trical, both fingers bearing two teeth on the proximal part of the cutting edge; (4) thepropodus of the third leg being 3.5 times as long as the dactylus.
