Abstract
Objective To investigate the correlativity of the expressions of CXCL12 and CXCR4 with the invasiveness and recurrence of adamantimous craniopharyngiomas. Methods The expressions of CXCL12 and CXCR4 were determined by immunohistochemical technique and western blot in 20 cases of adamantimous craniopharyngiomas including 11 cases of the primary tumors and 9 cases of the recurrent tumors. Results The levels of CXCL12 and CXCR4 expressions in the recurrent tumors was significantly higher than those in the primary tumors (P0.05). Conclusion CXCL12 and CXCR4 which may play an important role in the invasion and recurrence of adamantimous craniopharyngiomas may be the potential specific bio-marker related to the invasiveness and recurrence of adamantimous craniopharyngiomas.
