Regulation of bFGF and BDNF on proliferation and differentiation of mouse NSCs in vitro

Abstract

Objective To investigate the regulation of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) on the proliferation and differentiation of mouse neural stem cells (NSCs) in vitro.Methods Serum-free medium and single-cell monoclone technique were used to isolate and incubate NSCs from the cortex of embryonic mouse brain. According to the neurotrophic factors added to the medium,NSCs were divided into group bFGF,group BDNF and group bFGF+BDNF to observe their effects on the differentiation of NSCs.Results The percentage of neurons differentiated from NSCs in group bFGF+BDNF were much higher than those in the other two groups (P0.05). Conclusion bFGF can improve the ability of BDNF in inducing the differentiation of mouse NSCs into neurons.
