A Q-Cluster Analysis of the Comprehensive Ability of Men's Basketball Teams in the 30th Olympic Games

Abstract

With the application of literature review,contrast analysis and mathematical method,this paper analyzes the 10 indices of technical data of 12 men's basketball teams in the 30th Olympic Games.By means of 11 times clustering,the 12 teams are divided into four categories: the first has Argentina,Australia and Brazil,France,Russia and Spain are in the second category,the third includes Britain,Lithuania,Nigeria,Tunisia and China,and the forth is America,which is not far off the team ranking.American team is on the top level,and its comprehensive ability is apparently superior to the other teams.The tough defence and rapid attack of Argentina,Australia and Brazil teams show the excellent attacking advantage.Spain,Russia and France teams connect the European traditional integrated campaign style with the rapid and tough features of NBA combat,so they have the ability to compete with American team.The overall weak ability of 5 teams in the third category is less capable to combat with other teams.
