Abstract
Objective To observe the levels of serum hs-CRP and IL-6 and the relationship beween the levels of them and the restenosis of stent-assisted angioplasty of intracranial and extracranial arteries. Methods 25 cases with cerebral artery stenosis from 2003 to 2006 were treated by stent-assistant angioplasty. The relationship was analysed between the levels of serum hs-CRP and IL-6 before and after stent-assisted angioplasty and the restenosis of cerebral artery after endovascular therapy. Results 25 patients were observed in our study,25 stents in 25 blood vessels of cerebral arteries were observed from 6 to 12 months after operation.Restenosis were seen in 12/25 of cerebral arteries (48%),and the restenosis was superior to 50 percent in 6/25.The restenosis rates in 6/25 were from 10 to 30 percent, and 13/25 vessels were kept silent during this time after operation. At the same time, the levels of serum hs-CRP and IL-6 were observed before or after operation. There was no difference of the levels of serum hs-CRP and IL-6 between the restenosis group and the non-restenosis group before operation (P0.05).The levels of serum hs-CRP and IL-6 3d after operation were superior to those before operation respectively(P0.05),and the levels of serum hs-CRP and IL-6 in restenosis group from 6 to 12 months after operation were superior to those in non-restenosis group(P0.05).Conclusion The levels of serum hs-CRP and IL-6 were associated with the arterosclerotic inflammatory process, and inflammation markers maybe are relevant to the process of restenosis of cerebral artery after stent-assisted angioplasty.
