Analysis of Hypokalemia Caused by Indapamide

Abstract

Objective:To investigate the incidence of hypokalemia caused by Indapamide and the way to avoid it.Methods:In two years,80 cases with high blood pressure were followed who only used indapamide and the incidence of hypokalemia was calculated.Results:The incidence of hypokalemia was as high as 22.5%,much higher than reported.Conclusion:Indapamide can cause a higher incidence of hypokalemia,especially among the old with little education. Doctors should use proper treatment and enhance the guidance to the use of the medicine.
