Abstract
Objective: To investigate the morphologic feature of human apocrine sweat glands in axillae of osmidrosis patients,in order to discuss the secretory periods and the causes for the occurrence of osmidrosis. Methods: Optics and electron microscope were used to observe the microstructure and ultrastructure of human apocrine sweat glands in axillae from 20 osmidrosis patients, and then discuss the relations between different gender, age, seasons and odor intensity. Results: Under the optics microscope,12 cases presented high peak stage and 8 cases presented low valley stage.Under the electron microscope, typical features of secretory epithelial cells were shown in 12 cases. The odor intensity maybe change according to the age and season. Conclusion: There were secretory periods in the human apocrine sweat glands. It is valuable for researching the treatment of osmidrosis.
