Abstract

The development and the characteristic of Automatic Switched Optical Network(ASON),which is a highly flexible and extensible infrastructural network,can provide services directly at the optical layer are described in this paper,Researched in this paper is the architecture of ASON,the architecture is consists of three p lanes,three kinds of interfaces and three types of connections.The existent problems of ASON in criterion and application are summarized.
