2, 2′-azino-bis-(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)(ABTS)is selected as a mediator and the degradation of anthracene by laccase/ABTS mediator system is studied. The effects of pHvalue, the concentration of ABTS and laccase addition on the degradation are investigated. Besides, the degrading mechanism of anthracene is analyzed. The results show that the optimal conditions of treatment should be pH4.5,ABTS concentration 0.3 mmol/Land laccase addition 1 U/mL and the degradation rate can reach more than 90%. Anthracene is degraded by oxidation state mediator of ABTS and the process of oxidative degradation accords with the first-order reaction.
