Abstract
Growth characteristics and purifying efficiency of Cyperus alternifolius to domestic sewage were studied. C. alternifolius could grow throughout a year and keep certain growth rate even in the winter. After C. alternifolius were cultivated in domestic sewage for 10 d, the removal rates of TN,TP,COD and BOD were 91%,92%,70% and 73%, respectively; while the amounts of uptake to TN and TP by plant accounted for 55% and 53% of the purification amounts, respectively. The removal rates of TN,TP,COD and BOD in the subsurface flow constructed wetland with C. alternifolius were 64%, 47%, 74% and 74%, respectively; compared with unplanted system, the removal rates of TN,TP,COD and BOD raised 28%,19%,14% and 13%, respectively.
