Abstract
Objective:To explore the clinical effect and evaluate toxicity of transcatheter hepatic arterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with gamma knife treatment on patients of primary hepatic carcinoma. Methods: Total of 104 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma were divided into two groups randomly:Group A-TACE combined with gamma knife (combined therapy group) 52 cases;Group B-gamma knife only (control group) 52 cases,It is designed to compare the short term effect, clinical benefit, curative effect, survival time, and toxic side effects. Results:The effective rates of group A and group B were 92.3% and 75.0%.CBR in group A was much higher than group B.One year survival rate of the two groups were 88.5% and 65.3%.The decrease of hemoglobin and platelet of the two groups were basically the same. The occurrence probability of leukocyte decrease, liver function damage, nausea, vomiting in group A were much higher than that in group B,but these symptoms would be cured after symptomatic treatment. Conclusion:TACE combined with gamma knife can dramatically increase the short term effect, life quality and survival time of the patients of primary hepatic carcinoma. And more symptoms such as leukocyte decrease, liver function damage, nausea, vomiting appear, but they don' t influence the treatment after symptomatic treatment.
