Abstract
Objective To explore the clinical treatment and prognosis of early stage unexpected gallbladder carcinoma. Methods The clinical and pathological data of 28 patients with early stage gallbladder carcinoma treated in our hospital from May 2005 to May 2010 were retrospectively summarized,in which different treatment and factors affecting prognosis were analyzed. Results All the 28 cases were confirmed as early stage gallbladder carcinoma(Nevin Ⅰ~Ⅱ stage) by frozen section examination during operation or pathological examination after operation.17 cases underwent radical resection,11 cases simple cholecystectomy.Multivariate analysis showed that histological differentiation,Nevin stage and surgical methods were the independent factors for prognosis of early stage unexpected gallbladder carcinoma. There was significant difference between patients who received radical resection and those who not. Conclusions It is difficult to diagnose the early stage gallbladder carcinoma before operation.Frozen section contributes to the early diagnosis of unexpected gallbladder carcinoma examination.Radical resection should be performed once the diagnosis is confirmed by pathological evidence, whenever during operation or after operation.
