Abstract
Communication network needs to supply users with QoS (quality of service). So traffic modeling must be able to capture the statistical characteristics of actual traffic. Traffic modeling play an important role in traffic control and performance analysis of networks. With the increment of network traffic types, the traffic features of actual network become more and more complex, as characterized with bursts?short range dependence and selfsimilarity and so on. The studies of traffic modeling have a perpetual development. In this article, the features of network traffic are discussed firstly, then the current traffic models are analyzed and the features of modeling methods are pointed out.
