Abstract

The ways of evaluation include summative assessment and formative assessment.This article attempts to analyze and compare summative assessment and formative assessment in college English teaching. It shows some teaching practice in formative assessment and emphasizes its importance in college English teaching.Only when teachers combine summative assessment with formative assessment effectively,can they stimulate students’learning and cultivate their autonomy,cooperative learning and communicative skills.
