Abstract

Occludin is one of the important compositions of tight junction proteins. It has some functions, such as maintaining epithelial cell polarity, regulating cell-cell adhesion, accepting and transferring cell signal. This paper reviewed the structure, function, and related regulatory mechanism of occludin. M eanwhile the application of occludin in disease treatments and animal science was discussed.
