Abstract

In the late 19th century,pragmatism was created in the process of American social transforma-tion.Pragmatism was adapted for the American social development.As one of the founders of pragmatism,William James carried on the creative elaboration to the pragmatism,made an important contribution to the de-velopment of pragmatism.Today,we should have an objective and comprehensive understanding about William James.
