Efficacy of mianserin and amitriptyline in the treatment of patients with depression

Abstract
AIM To compare the clinical efficacy and safety of mianserin and amitriptyline in the treatment of patients with depression.METHODS Fifty-nine patients with depression were selected and randomly divided into mianserin and amitriptyline groups.One group took mianserin,another group took amitriptyline.The course of treatment was 8 wk.Before and after the treatment,HAMD,HAMA and TESS were used to evaluate the curative effect and the adverse drug reactions.RESULTS It was found that efficacy of mianserin was similar to amitriptyline but the anti-anxious curative effect surpassed amitriptyline.And the mianserin took effect more quickly,the adverse drug reactions were less than amitriptyline.CONCLUSION The anti-depressive and anti-anxious curative effect of mianserin is accurate and quick,with few adverse drug reactions.
