Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of gonadotropin releasing hormone agonist(triptorelin) on the growth of transplanted human epithelium ovarian cancer in nude mice and its side effects. Methods The transplantation tumor models were established by injecting OVCAR3 cells into the peritoneal cavity of nude mice, then the mice were randomly divided into three groups:control group,low-dose triptorelin group(75μg) and high-dose triptorelin group(150μg).The effect of triptorelin on endocrine and its side effects on the organs of abdominal cavity and all over the body of the mice were observed under light microscope. Results The high-dose triptorelin could obviously inhibit the growth of transplanted human epithelium ovarian cancer in nude mice, and the number and size of transplantation tumor in abdominal cavity in high-dose triptorelin group were the least among the three groups(P0.05).Triptorelin had no obvious side effects on the organs of the nude mice, and the levels of serum estrogens in high-dose triptorelin group were significantly lower than those in control group and low-dose triptorelin group(P0.05),however,the levels of serum follicle stimulating hormone were significantly higher than those in control group and low-dose triptorelin group(P0.05).Conclusion The gonadotropin releasing hormone agonist can inhibit the growth of transplanted human epithelium ovarian cancer in nude mice, with the side effects of lack of estrogen and increase of follicle stimulating hormone.
