Expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2 and CD147 in colorectal carcinoma

Objective To investigate the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2) and CD147 in colorectal carcinoma and their relationship with clinicopathological parameters.Methods Expressions of MMP-2 and CD147 in 42 cases of colorectal carcinoma and 20 cases of normal colorectal mucosa were detected by Evision immunohistochemical method.Results the positive rates of the expression of MMP-2 and CD147 in 42 cases of colorectal carcinoma were 92.9%(39/42) and 88.1%(37/42) respectively,which were significantly higher than those in 20 cases of normal colorectal mucosa(15.0% and 5.0%).The strong positive rates of MMP-2 and CD147 in moderately-poorly differentiated colorectal carcinoma were significantly higher than those in well differentiated colorectal carcinoma(P0.01),and the positive rates of MMP-2 and CD147 in colorectal carcinoma with lymph node metastasis were higher than those without lymph node metastasis(P0.01).Among Dukes staging,the positive rates of MMP-2 and CD147 in stages of C and D were higher than those in stages of A and B(P0.01).The expression rate of MMP-2 was positively correlated with the expression of CD147 in colorectal carcinoma(r=0.783,P0.01).Conclusion The expressions of MMP-2 and CD147 are colsely correlated with histological grading,invasion and metastasis in colorectal carcinoma which may serve as predictors for determining tumor aggressive behavior in colorectal carcinoma.
