Abstract
There are many ways to evaluate the earthquake-monitoring capability of digital seismological network. This paper uses the usual method based on the near earthquake magnitude formula to get the amplitude ratio and then inversely applies the calibration function to determine the distance controlled by a single station. Based on the location principle by four stations, the common part of the four circles, each of them determined by a single station, is called as the monitoring area of the digital seismological network at given lower limit of magnitude. In this paper we have drawn the monitoring capability map of South Jiangxi Seismological Network that can give the theoretical basis to get the range and the magnitude of earthquake rapid determination.
