Abstract
Objective To study the association of plasma von Willebrand factor(vWF) and thrombomodulin(TM) levels in patients with pregnancy induced hypertension(PIH).Methods Plasma vWF and TM were studied by ELISA method in 38 patients with PIH,16 normal pregnant women and 20 normal non-pregnant women. Results Circulation levels of vWF and TM were increased with increasing severity of the PIH.In mild PIH patients, the levels of plasma vWF(98.1± 41.1)% weren’t significantly higher than those in heathy pregnant women[(95.4± 40.2)%(P0.05)] but the levels of TM(17.4± 7.1)ng/mL were significantly higher than those in healthy pregnant women[(13.7 ± 4.6)ng/mL,(P0.05)].There were significant differences between groups of moderate-severe PIH [vWF(195.6 ± 39.8)%,TM(21.8 ± 7.4)ng/mL].There was a positive correlation between the plasma vWF level and TM level. Conclusion The results suggested that plasma vWF and TM concentration could be used as indicator for the severity of PIH.
