Abstract
Objective To analyze the prevalence of overweight and obesity and the characters of distribution among adult residents in Beijing in 2005-2011. Methods The data collected from Beijing Non-communicable and Chronic Disease( NCD)Surveillance during 2005-2011 were analyzed. The results of 2000 population census of Chinese were used in age standardization. And the criteria recommended by the Guidelines for Prevention and Control of Overweight and Obesity in Chinese Adults were applied in this study. Results The standardized rates of obesity among adult residents were 16. 9%,19. 3% and21. 1%,respectively in 2005,2008 and 2011. The prevalence rates of obesity were 19. 5%,22. 0% and 25. 8% for men in the study years,and were 15. 3%,17. 3% and 17. 4% for women. The standardized rates of overweight among adults were 35. 5%,36. 8% and 37. 3%,respectively in 2005,2008 and 2011. The rates of overweight were 40. 4%,41. 4% and 41. 9% for men and were 32. 3%,33. 2% and 33. 6% for women. The number of obesity increased quickly in Beijing. Conclusion The overall rate of overweight and obesity for adults was nearly 60% of residents in Beijing. Overweight and Obesity had become health threat to residents. Prevention and control of the risk factors should be urgently needed.
