Treatment of Patella Fracture with Titanium Cannulated Lag Screws and Tension Band

Objective To explore the effect and clinic applicability of treating patella fractures with tension band through titanium cannulated lag screws.Methods Twenty-seven patients with 11 transverse and 15 comminution and 1 obsolete patella fractures who were fixed by tension band through two titanium cannulated lag screws,reviewed retrospectively and analyzed.Results All patients are followed-up in 3 to 20 months.Transverse and comminution fracture are healed.The clinical outcome evaluated by Xushaoting grading system was excellent in 19 patients,good in 6 patients and fair in 2 patients.Conclusion Tension band through two titanium cannulated lag screws have the strongest strength of fixation,is effective kind valuable in the treatment of transverse and comminution patella fracture.
