Abstract

With the rapid development of Internet techonology, traditional Internet protocol edition,i.e.IPv4,could not support further extension and new operation characteristics.New edition of Internet protocol, named IPv6,is being researched and standardized. This article shows IPv6 protocol can offer better sustainment for the next generation Internet by introducing improved capability on the basis of the IPv4 and newly-added function. In addition, this article expounds the actual state of the IPv6 development, and three transitional strategies from IPv4 to IPv6.
