Abstract

Effects of calcium magnesium phosphate and silicon fertilizer (Na 2SiO 3) on the growth and the uptake of Cd, Pb, Zn, Cu, Mn, Fe, N, P and K by pakchoi (Brassica chinensis) were studied through pot experiment with cadmium, lead, and zinc contaminated soil. The growth of pakchoi was significantly improved by applying calcium magnesium phosphate. The uptake of Cd, Pb and Zn in pakchoi was significantly depressed and the poisonous symptom caused by heavy metals was eliminated. The absorption of Cu, N, P and Mn was also inhibited. Comparatively, Na 2SiO 3 showed a weaker effect on the growth of the vegetable and the uptake of the above elements. The results showed that soil pH was the main factor controlling the uptake of heavy metals by pakchoi.
