Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of rocuronium on the bispectral index(BIS)and cerebral state index(CSI)in patients under different sedation levels induced by propofol. Methods Seventy ASA Ⅰ or Ⅱ patients undergoing general anesthesia were randomized into two groups according to the propofol's effect concentration(Ce),which were subsequently divided into 4 subgroups:two groups with rocuronium(group L1 and L2,n=20)and two groups with NS(group C1 and C2,n=15).In group L1 and C1 the Ce of propofol was set to 2.5 μg/ml,and 4.0 μg/ml for group L2 and C2.SBP,DBP,MAP,HR,BIS and CSI were recorded before induction of anesthesia(T0),before tracheal intubation(T1),at the moment of the intubation(T2),3 min(T3),5 min(T4)after intubation, the time before rocuronium/NS administration(T5),the time of most efficiency of rocuronium(T6)and the recovery of twitch responds of muscle(T7).Results In group L1,BIS and CSI were greatly decreased at T6 when compared with those at T5 and T7(P0.05).Conclusion Rocuronium decreased BIS and CSI in patients who received propofol with the Ce of 2.5 μg/ml.
