Abstract
Objective To introduce the studies on components of telomerase as well as the correlation between the activity of telomerase and its subunits. Method A comprehensive report is made with reference to related articles. Results Telomerase is a specific reverse enzyme and a rebonucleoprotein complex composed of RNA and proteins. Three components of human telomerase have been cloned. They are the RNA component (hTR), a telomerase associated protein (TP1) and a telomerase catalytic subunit (hTERT). Identification of those subunits reveals a close relation between the activity of telomerase and its sbunits. Conclusion Activation of telomerase is thought to be regulated by the expression of its subunits, specifically hTERT. But investigation in this field has just started and needs to be verified by further experiments.
