HU Shi's Viewpoint on Chinese and Western Culture

HU Shi played a dual role in Chinese and Western cultural exchanges which led to the complication and flexibility of his viewpoints on Chinese and Western culture.HU Shi held that culture was the key to building up a nation in modern world and that a new Chinese culture should be reconstructed by developing what was healthy and discarding what was not in both Chinese and Western culture.HU Shi foresaw worldwide culture and repeatedly attached great importance to freedom and tolerance in cultural development.
