Abstract
Objective To compare mineral trioxide aggregate(MTA)with formocresol(FC)clinically as a pulpotomy agent in primary teeth with deep caries.Methods One hundred and thirty-four primary teeth were selected.Selected teeth were randomly assigned to control group(conventional FC pulpotomy were performed)and experimental group(MTA pulpotomy were performed)respectively.Patients were recalled for clinical evaluations after 3,6,12months.Results There was no statistically significant difference between the success rate of teeth treated with FC(91.43%)and those treated with MTA(93.75%).Conclusion Currently available evidence suggest that MTA as a pulpotomy medicament did not have a higher clinical success compared with FC.Both MTA and FC are effective pulpotomy agents for primary teeth with deep caries.
