Abstract

AIM:To explore the effects of ulinastatin on delayed resuscitation of severe burns.METHODS: Eighteen SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups:sham group (S group),burned and delayed resuscitation group (B group) and therapeutic group (U group). In U group, ulinastatin (20 000 U·kg~(-1)) was intra- peritoneally injected at 6 h,12 h after burn with simultaneously prolonged resuscitation.Rats were executed post-buru 24 h and followed by measurement of the ratios for dry weight and wet weight tissues of lungs and livers;together with calculation of the serum contents of interleukin 8 (IL-8),tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α),malondialdehyde (MDA) and lactic acid (LD).RESULTS:The ratios of dry and wet weight of lung and liver tissues in B group were lower than those in S group, while the levels of IL-8,TNF-α,MDA and LD were higher (P0.01),respectively.The ratios of dry and wet weight of lung and liver tissues in U group were 0.229 4±s 0.001 2 and 0.275±0.008,while levels of IL-8,TNF-α,LD and MDA were (226±16) ng·L~(-1), (514±24) ng·L~(-1),(4.5±0.8) mmol·L~(-1) and (2.52±0.27) nmol·L~(-1);all improved much more than those in B group (P0.05 or P0.01 ).CONCLUSION:Ulinastatin can decrease the injury with delayed resuscitation in severe burns.
