Abstract

It's necessary to conclude China's urban planning and development since 1980s and to build theories fitting into the Chinese characteristics, urbanization and urban problems. The urban (heavy) industrialization in state social redistribution system has made a continuous influence on urban development even in socio-economic transition in 1990s. Unfortunately the neo-liberal economic policies controlled the steering wheel for urban planning which generated serious environmental deterioration and social inequality. Urban planning, as a tool for national macro-regulation, should absorb the strong point of architecture, geography, economics, sociology, anthropology, ecology etc. to make it possible a sustainable ecosystem and urban society.
