Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of different protein and cholesterol levels and their different combinations on Ca-P metabolism in growing rats.Methods Following 1-week of feeding diets containing 1% cholesterol (CH), female rats were divided into 4 groups and were given soybean protein (SP),SP plus CH,casein (CS),and CS plus CH,respectively.Rat′s feces and urine were collected during the last 3 days of trial.Ca,Mg and P in animal feces,urine and some organs were measured.Results Both SP and CH influenced urine volume,bone calcium and urine phosphorus significantly.Besids,the effect of CH was more powerful than that of protein.Conclusion CH is of significant influence on Ca,P and Mg metabolism,and urine pH,urine volume and feces volume.
