Abstract
Equilibrium adsorption isotherms for the removal of methylene blue from aqueous solution using K2Ti4O9 whiskers were investigated.Equilibrium data were mathematically modeled using Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption models to describe the isotherm at different temperatures, and isotherm constants were determined. Results indicated that Freundlich adsorption was found to best fit the experimental data of methylene blue, with R2 more than 0.991.Adsorption kinetics could be well described by pseudo-second order kinetics model. The rate of adsorption was much higher in the alkaline condition. The rate of adsorption increased with the increasing of adsorbent dosage, when the adsorbent dosage was 0.4g and adsorption time was 10h,the rate of adsorption could be up to 92.6%.
