Abstract
A number of doubly periodic wave solutions expressed by Jacobi elliptic functions to the BBM equation and the (2+1) dimensional BBM equation are obtained by using the homogeneous balance principle and F-expansion method,which can be thought of as an over-all generalization of Jacobi elliptic function expansion method proposed recently. In the limit cases,the solitary wave solutions and other types of single periodic wave solutions to the system are obtained as well.The method used here can be applied to solve other nonlinear evolution equations.
