Abstract
A field experiment was conducted in Ziyun County in southern Guizhou, with an altitude of 1 050 m, which area is characterized by plentiful solar radiation and large diurnal temperature variation, and the technologies of balanced fertilization were practiced. Rice yield thus obtained was 1.6 times that of the local average. Yield improvement range in then treatment of potash in combination with N was 22.1%~27.7%, as compared with the traditional agronomic practice of the local farmers. The output : input ratio of potash application was 1.7~3.7. Yield increase was mainly attributed to the increase in 1 000-seed-weight (6.6%). Potash also improved the quality of rice grain with an increase of 12.14% in crude protein. The optimum ratio of N to K2O was 100 ∶ 85~113 in this experiment.
