Abstract

A man of virtue and ability is esteemed though bad lookingproposed by ZHUANG Zi,one of the greatest thinkers of ancient China,is a distinctive and important find in the realm of aesthetics.It represented a sense of beauty during the dynasties prior to Qin,challenging the then popular view of judging people solely by their appearance.It is also of originating significance to the world aesthetic history.ZHUANG's fables themselves embody the beauty appreciated just from ugliness,thus setting a precedent for the fantastic artof China.
