Abstract

Objective To research expression of P16 and P53 proteins in the occurrence and development in the gastric cancer tissue. Methods p16 and p53 genes expressions were detected in 57 gastric cancer and pericarcinoma tissues as well as 38 normal gastric tissues by immunohistochemistry. The data were analyzed with clinical materials. Results The positive rate of P16 protein expression was 21.1 %(12/57) in gastric cancer samples and was significantly lower than that in both pericarcinoma tissues 59.6 %(34/57) and normal gastric tissues 89.5%(34/38,P0.05).The positive rate of P53 protein expression was 80.7%(46/57) in gastric cancer tissue, and significantly higher than those in pericarcinoma tissues(42.1%) and normal gastric tissues(0%,P0.05).The positive expressions of the P16 and P53 proteins were correlated with histological type and degree of differentiation of gastric carcinoma and depth of invasion and lymph node metastasis(P0.05).Conclusion The data suggest that abnormal expressions of P16 and P53 proteins are closely correlated to the occurrence and development, malignancy degree, lymph node metastasis and prognosis of gastric cancer.
